A smarter way to park

We take a holistic approach to performance, obsessing over every aspect of the driving experience. Like parking. After all, as exhilarating as the Polestar 2 is to drive, it’s inevitable to have to make a stop every now and then.

We envision a future where the car can do much more than we expect today. Polestar 2 already proves this.

Using smartphone apps instead of parking meters to pay for city parking has become more common recently. With this functionality comes the issue of forgetting to start and end a parking session. We’re making parking more intuitive and convenient by introducing the EasyPark app, a first for Android Automotive OS, in the Polestar 2. The EasyPark app can be used to pay for street, open lot and garage parking in over 2,000 cities in 20 countries in Europe. Connected to the car and aware of what it’s doing, the in-car EasyPark app automatically ends the parking session when the gear selector is moved to “Drive”. No more worrying about overpaying.

Up until now, all the releases for Android Automotive OS have been media apps. As the world’s first manufacturer-exclusive app, the release of EasyPark shows the potential for the future of in-car apps, and also demonstrates Polestar’s commitment to bringing customers an innovative, more connected experience.

“We envision a future where the car can do much more than we expect today. Polestar 2 already proves this, and the open nature of the Android platform enables new apps and features to be developed continuously,” says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

With Google built in, the Polestar 2 is only going to keep getting smarter. And with the EasyPark app, it now features high-performance parking. Not a bad spot to be in.
