Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit a Project Engineer in the Interior Trim Team.


Let us describe the challenge we offer

We are looking for a proactive, experienced project engineer to join our interior trim team at Polestar UK and play a key role in the next phase of an upcoming project. You’ll be a part of the Interior Cabin and Soft Trim team, based in Coventry UK, working on an exciting future programme. Travel between our UK sites would be expected, with potential of business travel in EU and China on occasion.


What you'll do

In this role, you be responsible for delivering and releasing a system of components within the soft trim / acoustics team. This team comprises of luggage trim, tailgate inner trim, floor carpets, cabin NVH across the vehicle. You will be involved from concept level through to production. At Polestar, our project engineers work hand in hand with our design engineers and the wider teams, so will be expected to take a leading role in DFMEA development, standard creation, DVP planning, RFQ preparation and many other tasks, as well as reviewing CAD.   • Project scoping at concept stage
  • Delivery of components from concept through to production (to quality,cost and timing), including the production tooling release to suppliers and downstream customers.
  • Lead all cross functional inputs/outputs for Styling, Package, Sustainability, Vehicle Integration, CAE, Test, Manufacturing, Service, Quality and Safety
  • Ensure legal compliance, in coordination with suppliers and homologation teams.
  • Lead RFI and RFQ process with purchasing including generation of related engineering documentation.
  • Support development of best-in-class Design & Engineering standards and DFMEAs.
  • Support System validation.
  • Support prototype and pre-production builds and lead problem resolution during launch


Who you are

You will be a motivated individual who can work effectively within teams. You will have a technical eye for detail with a solid body of experience working on similar components and technologies, with a proven track record delivering on vehicle programmes. You will be adaptable to changing requirements and confident interacting with all levels of the business.

Key requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or similar discipline
  • High level of experience in an OEM or Tier One on similar systems
  • Demonstrable experience in DFMEAs and Problem solving methodology
  • Experience designing for plastic mouldings, compression mouldings, joining methods for both high volume and low volume technologies
  • Experience with industry standard PLM systems, including Catia V5 and Vis Mockup
  • Commercial awareness in relation to supplier manufacturing techniques
  • Clear ability to plan and prioritise multiple workstreams
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to work in English with suppliers and colleagues globally
