Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit a Surface Materials Assessment Engineer as part of the Materials Delivery Team.

The person:

The Role:

Working in the Surface Materials team, you will work closely with the Engineering teams and their Suppliers, to ensure excellent Material Quality. You will be responsible for completing appearance-based assessments during the development phase of the vehicle, as well as supporting the maintenance of quality during production. You will play a central part in delivering our market leading design and developing our sustainable material portfolio.

The role will entail the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting with material quality assessments across the vehicle, developing and maintaining processes for submission and approval
  • Creating and managing cosmetic standards, and boundary/grey books, for components and systems
  • Working with suppliers and reporting out on issues found during assessments
  • Collaborating internally with Engineering and Design, with opportunities to work on new material developments
  • Managing appearance masters and distribution

Minimum Required Skills & Experience:

  • Some experience working in the Automotive Industry or similar field
  • An Engineering degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, with good attention to detail
  • Able to work in start-up environment

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in materials development / science
  • Experience developing materials from early stages to production level
  • Experience with colour and appearance assessments
