Manager, Direct Materials Procurement

At Polestar we don't just drive innovation in our cars – our entire business model is different from our competitors. We’re looking for a creative, innovative, experienced, and hands-on professional to manage Polestars direct materials purchasing needs in the U.S. market.

Let us describe the challenge we offer

The Manager, Direct Materials Procurement will work in close collaboration with our global procurement team and local stakeholders to support our project needs to procure materials for production of Polestar vehicles in South Carolina. This role will take the lead in all direct material purchasing strategies for Polestar projects in North America and work in collaboration with Volvo’s purchasing team.


What you'll do

  • Accomplish procurement deliverables to meet Polestar vehicle production and project requirements
  • Collaborate with project teams within Polestar and Volvo to meet direct material procurement goals
  • Design, optimize and adapt the sourcing process based on the current performance, stakeholder needs, and overall business objectives
  • Lead project performance reviews, process performance data, and ideate corrective actions to address the performance issues that are identified
  • Team up with Volvo purchasing, participate and lead meetings to coordinate and align on program status with cross-functional teams around the world
  • Report to Polestar management with program status, proactively identify risks and to take action plan to secure team deliveries according to program planning and targets
  • Initiate continuous improvement projects and proactively drive Polestar to meet cost, delivery timing, sustainability, and other goals


Who you are

  • 5-10 years purchasing experience (ideally within the automotive industry)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, economics, or equivalent
  • Familiar with auto component global supply base, with sharp discernment and ability to analyze market
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive and complete tasks independently, mission-oriented, and high driving spirit
  • Smart and nimble mindset, with track record high performance within a complex global organization
  • Positive and passionate, nothing is impossible mindset, good team player
  • International experience and global OEM purchasing program management experience preferred
