Project Engineer - Seating Systems/Restraints

Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit a Project Engineer within Seating Systems/Restraints.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer is responsible for:

  • Responsible for the Application Engineering of Seating and Restraint Systems.
  • Creation and management of functional specifications.
  • Creation and management of Engineering Statement of Work (ESoW).
  • Support the R&D RFI and RFQ process with Purchasing including the generation of related engineering documentation.
  • Ownership and development of System foundation DFMEA(s).
  • Management of Development Suppliers and Partners.
  • Support virtual validation when required.
  • Support physical validation when required.
  • Manage the Engineering BoM.
  • Manage the CAD packaging with both the Supplier and internal teams.
  • Create CAD design proposals & concepts, and to participate in decisions regarding engineering changes and design direction.


Academic Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in the integration of complex Interior systems into a full vehicle environment.
  • Experience in Seating and/or Safety Restraints integration and development.
  • A passion for sustainability from a whole product life perspective including related base materials, manufacturing processes though to product end of life.
  • Have a good experience and knowledge of Catia V5 and TeamCenter.
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of engineering design principles including DFM, DFA, DFMEA, DVP.
  • Customer focused.
  • Able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment
  • Knowledge, and an understanding of, systems engineering and system development process methodology.
  • Understanding of vehicle packaging and occupant ergonomics
  • Experience of vehicle development for world markets including North America.
  • Comfortable and competent in the management of System and component suppliers.
  • Must be commercially aware.
  • Experienced in working with suppliers and OEM’s based in Asia.
  • A willingness for future frequent business travel and also extended periods of travel to Asia around development projects.
